Living a Story

img_9396Sometimes I find that a story ends up with a happily-ever-after, but other times the tale leaves me hanging from a cliff’s edge by a thread of confusion. Stories aren’t all the “picture-perfect” dreams we wish they were, and there are moments when we must face the starkness of real stories. Stories that hurt. Stories that change. Stories that, frankly, may not make much sense.

But as a child of God, our lives (aka “our stories”) are drastically different. He is the Author of Life, who is penning down every year, every month, every week, day, circumstance, and moment. He loves us and has a plan which is for our good and His glory! (See Jeremiah 29:11-13.)

So, in essence, we are each living out a story. A real story. An unfinished story.

And that’s what makes it amazing– even though we as Christians are faulty and fail Christ miserably every single day…He still loves us. He hasn’t given up on us. He has a plan, and He is still writing your story.

That’s why I titled my blog An Unfinished Story, for it is because of God’s grace and mercy that He is still writing us out. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” ~ Phil. 1:6, ESV

Though there will be times of both suffering and joy, take heart knowing that in Christ, you are an unfinished story.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” ~ Hebrews 12:1-3, ESV
